The correct answer to the statement indicated above is false. As a matter of fact, assonance repeats similar vowel sound but with various consonant sounds in words close together.

On the other hand as the statement above mentioned, it pertains to alliteration which refers to the term used to describe the repetition of same consonant sounds.
