Let x be the previous price.
So, the equation is the following: [tex]x+0.25x=1.5[/tex]
Solve the above equation for x like this:
[tex]x(1+0.25)=1.5\\x1.25=1.5\\x=\frac{1.5}{1.25}=1.2[/tex]

The price before was £1.2
