Macbeth was having a hard time leaving Duncan's chamber because there was so much blood and he wasn't expecting it. He accidentally took the daggers with him, that needed to be placed by the bodies of his guards, but was so shaken by the blood and the realization/guilt of what he had just done that he forgot to leave them.
